NC Open Championship 2000

October 27-29, 2000

The 5 round, 35/90,SD/60 tournament was held at the Comfort Inn in Burlington.
Enrico Sevillano was the overall winner of the tournament while Larry Tapper was the top North Carolina resident. Larry Tapper and Matthew Hoekstra earned spots in the NC Invitational.
In the U2000 section, there was a 4-way tie for first between Larry Johnson, Michael McHale, Robert Walker, and Walter Smith. Michael McHale won the trophy for top NC resident.
In the U1600 section, previously unrated Igor Akushevich scored a perfect 5 points and claimed top honors.
In the U1200 trophy-only section, John Brockhouse earned first place with 4.5 points, while Dane Berry, James Hyde, and Sam Thompson tied for 2nd through 4th place with 4 points. Dane Berry was the top NC resident based on tie-breaks.
